Hello
Perhaps you could help.
Is it required to install the MC91 support pack if you are going to be using the Veritas MQ Agent to handle failover on a solaris cluster?
Do you really need to use the hacrtmqm etc command or can you just crtmqm and update the mqs.ini on the other side of the cluster.
Thanks in advance. |

I'm sure that someone who knows what they're doing could waste their time by reinventing the things that the scripts will do for you.
So, I don't think there's a *need* for the support pack. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

My opinion (for what it's worth):
1) Download and install MC91; or
2) Purchase and install Veritas agent for MQ; or
3) Write your own
Personally I would go with options 1 or 2.
Cheers

Thanks for the Feedback.
We are going to use the Veritas agent for MQ so if MC91 offers nothing more than start\stop scripts etc then I guess theres no point installing it.

This is a 'it depends' answer. What version of VCS agent are you using?

For VCS agent v2, using hacrtmqm is a real time saver. I would not want to setup those links but hand - way too easy to make a mistake.

Hi Roger,
Thanks for the feedback.
We will be using Version 5 of the VCS MQ Agent.
So do you feel that MC91 will make life easier or will the VCS agent handle everything.
Cheers. |

Again, for what it's worth...
We used a combination of MC91 and VCS Agent 5 for MQ. Used hacrtmqm to create all of the links, etc, but used the VCS agent side of things for the Veritas scripts, etc.. Seems to work quite well.
So I think that MC91 will make your life a bit easier, if only for the creation of the links.

What is 'not smooth'? Define 'stuck'? What exactly is the problem you are having?

I found that version 5.1 of Veritas Agent for WebSphere MQ supports running WMQ in a Solaris 10 Container / Zone, but I can't find any indication about whether MC91 does or not. I have examined the scripts, but I'm not sure, and I don't have an environment suitable for testing. Can anyone provide clarity on this? |

Can you please supply any details on how you got things working. I am at the same point and I'm not sure what the issue is?
-Thanks |

Hi kingsley,
Could you please give us the step - by - step details on how you configured the HA using VCS ? We are also thinking of doing it .
