Yea, maybe you're correct....I think perhaps we both misuderstood each other.

The architecture you described isn't how I have our architecture setup.

All of our QM's are in a big cluster, with the 2 z/OS QM's as repositories & in a QSG.

So instead of a 'gateway' configuration where the distrib side only has 1 connection to the z/OS QM's, each of our distrib connect to the z/OS QM's via cluster sender channels.

I looked at the section on Shared Channels in the z/OS MQ Planning Guide, but it doesn't say anything one way or the other about using Shared Channels in a cluster.

However, if you look in the MQSC Manual for the DEFINE CHANNEL command, you will notice that both Cluster Receivers and Cluster Senders have the QSGDISP attribute available. So its possible the solution to your problem is to make the z/OS cluster channels shared?
