Hello All,
The MQ Series OS/2 has been unavailable for at least 5 years. Does anyone have a copy that can be parted with? The last version was 6 but any version will do.
Please contact me with details.

Don't do it.

Stop.

Run away.

I've got the MQ client v5.0 for OS/2. I would not recommend installing a queue manager on OS/2 though.

There should not be a problem with running the server. I am not new to MQ and one might guess not new to computors.

Are you connected to these people?

Is it just a freaky coincidence?

Or are the Friends of Version 5.0 (a previously unknown terrorist group) launching an offensive to fill the world with seriously out of support software?

There are big problems with running the server.

Above and beyond the big problems with running OS/2.

This version of the software, and this OS have no business in any corporate environment anymore. The risks of running it far out weigh any possible gain.

v5.3 will perform probably orders of magnitude better. v6 performs better than v5.3. Both of them will be significantly more stable, predicatable, and useable than v5.

Though clearly a radical disenchanted with the traditional spelling "computers"

(I hate it when that happens.... )

If you're not new to MQ, why are you risking life, limb and sanity with such an old version? Having obviously seen the many stability improvements and additional functions added on since? I remember v5.0 and I have no nostalga for it.

I'm interested in the requirement here.

I think it would be the perfect companion to my Communications Manager/2 Version 1.1 which I use every day

Okay, taking my own advice here, backing away slowly, making no sudden moves and getting ready to break for the door....

Do you keep warm from the tubes on the Eniac, as well?

No but I once worked in a room at IBM that had a core of wire and rings which was used to develop the first 8000 transitor chip

Jeff,

I don't see any smiley faces - are you serious? Did OS/2 beat you up or something? Such strong hatred - why?

I used OS/2 throughout the 90's until switching over to Linux. It was a rock solid server. (Lack of applications was the reason I switched.) I built tons of native OS/2 & MQ applications and never had any issues.

I can't remember if the last MQ server version I used on OS/2 was v2.0 or v5.0 - either way, I had no problems.

There's nothing wrong with OS/2 seven or ten years ago.

It's entirely inappropriate to run now.

It's the whole risk thing - it might be "stable", but if you run into bugs you're completely shafted for getting them fixed.

The difference between a good programmer and a bad one is the good one can work around bugs
