When I tried to run mq command in a third party box, I coud not run any MQ command though, the user id is in mqm group and admin group and the mq is running under usual local user id: MUSER_MQADMIN.
How could this happen? I have read about access control using admin wrapper? Or could it be use of LDAP server? Any help would be appreciated.

like, I can not run dspmq, runmqsc, or explorer. The id has admin right so I added it to the mqm group, relog. still the same. It says, access denied.
What else can it be?

Any user in Administrators should already have full mqm rights on Windows...
Are you sure you're logged in as the correct user? Are you sure MQ is using the user registry that you think it is?

Yes. I checked. Not only me, in I worked with my project manager. Taks Manager shows the queue manager is running using MUSER_MQADMIN. I checked, this user is in admin so we added it to the mqm group.
When i run a command lets say ' dspmq' a pop ups come saying this is not a correct windows 32 application. when I click that ok, at the DOS PROMPT, a message is displayed as access is denied.
Believe me, I have checked many time.
This is not 'our' box. Belong to a third party vendor. I do not know any other information.

This is not a correct windows 32 application?
That's a sign of something seriously wrong, either with the qmgr install, or with PATH or something...

I went to the bin directory to issue the command. I do not see any other reason as it was working till yesterday. We just found not working today.
Anyway, my european counterpart is responsibnle for administering this server. I will find out tomorrow and share the result.

Jeff,
When I talked to my colleague this morning, he said, there was problem in mq and server itself
I can use these command now. I am wondering how i was able to login if there was a problem, but the strange mq problem is not there any more

Sounds to me like the command server was not running. The counterpart probably started it.

The problem was not only I was not able to administer from my local mq explorer, when i logged on to the server, I could not issue any mq commands- like dspmq, runmqscd, and even run mq exploerer. One more think I learnt this morning was that they had hard drive failure.

In fact, he was like me except he has account with the box. When I mentioned this morning, he logged run the channel. Also, I was able to log in this morning with the same user id and password and do whatever I want to do. I also observed that the only thing not working was channel were not running.
I would bemore then happy to share this kind of issue.
