There's absolutely no reason to install v5 of MQ anywhere.
I think the earliest available documentation on IBM's website is for v5.1. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hi,
Did you mean WMQ v6? Or are you asking about MQ v5.0?
For WMQ v6, all of the manuals are freely available at IBM's WebSphere MQ web site and yes there are changes between v5.3 and v6.
If you meant MQ v5.0, then really, please join the new century, new millennium. Because MQ v5.0 is completely unsupported by IBM and all documentation has long since been removed from their web site.
Regards,

I can't make any assumptions about what he/she meant (I suppose you are guessing it is a "she" because of the name... I prefer not to make a guess like that)... I can only answer the question (or not) based on what's said.
Maybe it's Solaris. Maybe it's v6. Maybe it's v5 on OS/2...
Maybe it's asking if the stuff that was learned for v5 is still applicable for v5.3...
Regardless, it's better to check the documentation to see for sure. That would be in the Quick Beginnings guide for the platform and version in question. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I've got to ask - why are you interested in such an old version of the software? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

You've answered your own question

Obtain a copy of the v5.0 Solaris Quick Beginning manual via the support agreement.
IIRC (and that's doubtful after all this time) you had to set up some kernal stuff as well as inted for the listener. I have a vague recollection of an enraged Unix admin calling me some contact admin names when the box wouldn't restart.
IBM are your best bet to have a copy of this docs in a backup somewhere. And I wish you good fortune using v5.0 in anger. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
