Hi MQ Experts,

One of my application currently using MQ Client 5.3 on Windows platform which is connecting to WMQ 5.3 Queue Managers on Solaris box.

We will be migrating to WMQV6 in next 4-5 months time-frame.

Now, I want my application on Windows to start using MQ Client V6 (Windows) in order to connect to MQ Server (5.3 with CSD11) Queue Managers so that they do not have to worry in next couple of months when we migrate to WMQV6.

Is it possible that a MQV6 Client work with WMQ5.3 Queue Managers without any issues.

Please input your experience and suggestions.

Any input or help would be highly appreciated!!!

Is it possible to search for the answer to this question, before posting it?

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for your nice advice. What do you think I did not search?

I have already searched and did not get a proper answer.

If you can not answer, please do not critisize other people.

Then your search strategy is somewhat flawed. This questions has been asked and answered many times.

For instance

Among many others.

If you can not ask question, please do not critisize the answer.

I believe it's time to revisit the there's-no-need-for-sarcasm issue. Consider yourselves wagged at by my finger.

Hi Vitor,

First of all, thank you for the link. Secondly, like you said, my search wasn't enough or correct but I did spent good amount of time and unfortunately I did not get the proper answer before I asked the question.

I apologise for any inconvinience, I do not mean to be harsh but I felt my question wasn't answered properly.

Thanks a bunch!!!

Finger so considered, but what kind of search fails to find the "v5 & v6 client mix" discussions? I found that link by searching on "client".

I'm not sure which comment is worst.

A search engine is always 1 click way. What surprises me is that people find that 'it is too much effort' to do a search. It falls into the same category as 'don't get involved' or 'pass the buck'. Laziness!

My favorite Simpons episode is when the whole family goes for counseling and the doctor hooks all of they up to an electro-shocker machine. And one by one, they all begin to shock each other.

My next invention will be a USB electro-shocker and you can only post questions or read the forum while the USB is plugged into your PC and your finger is in the socket.

I will guarantee you; the number of absolutely basic questions would drop to zero.

Regards,
Roger Lacroix

As to my finger-wagging:

I expect newbies to be in a higher state of stress generally.

Searching is an art form. Given limited knowledge of things MQ, I'd also expect that reading through the narrative of posts returned adds to the confusion, not necessarily clear it up.

If we can't be patient, supportive, encouraging and charmimg, with those in need, less knowledgeable or non-English speaking, maybe we should stop posting.

Works for me. There are enough existing posts to act as a searchable knowledge base.....

Does this indeed deserving group include those with a perfectly sound grasp of English who can't successfully search for "client"?

Sarcasm detected. I suppose we can decide whom we want to serve here.

My suggestion is that when we decide that someone asking for help doesn't meet our minimum criteria, we simply ignore them - not chastise or otherwise abuse them.

......and I still say a bigger, more prominent search button would only help too!

Is bright red and flashing technically possible?

I still think Roger's invention is the best solution. Or at least the most fun.
