I was pondering where the broker technology may be heading with the advent of WebSphere TX.
TX seems to be getting a lot of airplay on various IBM sites lately and appears to offer a more flexible deployment model than the broker (standalone, broker plugin, an API that enables calls from Websphere ESB, etc).
I've recently heard that the next version of DataPower appliances will use the same TX mapping interface extending the deployment model even further.
The broker starts to look like a big and expensive option.
I'm about to start a new project with a heavy transformation requirement that would by default use the broker and hence the post.
