| MQ v7 release coming? |

I had my Director ping me that another entity in our company has MQ v7 scheduled for install 4th quarter.  I see no annoucments at the IBM MQ site. Anyone hear anything at the SOA/WAS ( ) conference or know a release date? Only thing I can think of it’s a typo or they paricipate in BETA release. |

My guess is it's either a typo, or they just "assumed" there would be a version 7 by that time whenever they made up this schedule.

There will always be another release of MQ, DB2, whatever.
Managers often ask why/if we should wait for the new release if it's only n-months away. They usually feel that they should appear involved - even if it's only by asking (needless) questions.
I worked with my mgt to set a general policy about installation of new software releases: we will, but after it has been in general availability for a minimum of 6 months - UNLESS some business crisis demands earlier implementation.
The policy also set end of use for software, so we would upgrade as a matter of (business) policy; not wait until some crisis occured that required an upgrade. |

I was at the conference and everyone was VERY tight lipped as commented before... (see Impact topic).
there IS going to be a Broker 6.1 in 2H 2007 don't know if that is july or december ...
I did pick up a comment on keeping Broker and MQ on release 'level', but heard nothing specific on MQ other then some supportpac type improvements
If you had a director ping you about V7 I would follow that trail to find out more... ofcourse if they have it, it must be under NDA and you won't be able to report on it...
