Well, again, most of the readme seems straightforward to me. Or at least, it looks like it would make perfect sense to someone who knew VSE.
Since I don't know VSE, most of it is pretty opaque. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The readme is NOT straightforward and it does NOT make perfect sense and I do know VSE. |

Most of the points and "how to's" you seem to be confused on seem to be VSE-specific items, which is why most here cannot help you. Perhaps you are not as well versed in VSE as you claim. As always, I would say seek a higher power. In your case, a VSE guru. _________________ IBM Certified MQSeries Specialist

Well, excuse me for thinking I would get some assistance about setting up MQ from the MQSERIES.NET help forum. Funny that people with no knowledge of an operating system seem to jump to conclusions about other peoples knowledge of an operating system. I was asking for assistance in setting up MQ - not for your personal opinions on what you think my expertise is. I am quite aware that the type of assistance I need is clearly not here. Might as well drop the posts from here on out - as this has become way off topic of my original post. |

I think the issue here is a) this client is new & b) no-one in here uses VSE. You want assistance on Unix or Windows I'm there, but VSE I've no experience of. I've looked at the readme posted, and have no realistic comment to make. You either need a VSE forum or a PMR.
But tapping round with my white stick, it seems to me you need to make a MQSETENV call to define the MQSERVER variable. If it was me, and I was doing this on z/OS (or something like this), I'd do it in code rather than the language environment.
I do also feel comments about your level of VSE knowledge are at best misjudged. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I was not trying to be derogatory. I myself have worked with MVS/OS390/z/OS systems for thirty years, and I would not claim to know all there is to know about them. I've also worked with several distributed platforms including Windows and several Unix platforms. The same applies to them. I have found over the years that once you assume you know everything about something, that is when the learning stops. I agree with Vitor's signature comments:
Never assume you know everything.
Never assume you've seen everything.
