Hi,
I just wanted to get some opinions on this........
We have busy production Queue Managers running on two AIX servers (together with an application) sending to, and receiving replies from a mainframe backend. There is no failover between the two servers, but the QM's are started at boot. At the top end lack of responses will cause the other server to be used rather than load balanced.
We have been asked to ensure that the QM's are restarted in the event of their failure. We can probably get Patrol to sort this out, but in principle the opinion within our team is that "if there is a problem that causes the Queue Manager to crash, then it is unlikely to restart without further action". We would prefer to be called out to fix the underlying problem having been alerted.
Sounds like you need to clarify the requirement to "ensure that the QM's are restared in the event of their failure", and use that to justify HACMP. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general.
