I've been thinking about this for a couple of days... what to post at this "milestone" of 15000 posts...

And I realized that... this is not a milestone. 15000 is a meaningless number, both in general, and in specific.

10000 was a meaningful number, in some ways. And I commememorated it by making a donation, which I encourage you all to do.

But the nearest meaningful number after 10000 is 16384, which is obvious if you think about it for a bit.

But I'm not even sure that's really a milestone. 32768 might be more meaningful - but only if the version of PHPBB2 in effect at that point is still using an 8-bit integer for post count. Which I really hope it's not.

I'm sticking with my story. Anything over 10,000 is way too much, and pretty meaningless.

Well I just hope you never get enough of this and don't drop out...

If all these numbers are to much for you I could send Brandon some code to set your postcount back to let's say 542

I'm not saying it can't happen... I'm not even saying it *won't* happen.

Just not any time soon, as far as I'm concerned.

Your 15,000 number is significant when you consider that this represents nearly 10% of all the posts made on MQSeries.net from 2001-2007

Stats say it's only 8.53% of total posts... of course, I didn't join until 2002 (hard to believe it's been that long...) So maybe it's a larger percentage of the posts since I joined...

Still, I don't really think of it as an accomplishment.

The extraordinary thing about the 15,000 is that most of them, from my observation, have been answers to questions ... saved my bacon more than once!

They may not have been answers to the question asked, however...

But always sound advice!

(With the occassional humourous observation thrown in!!)
