Dears,
We are having Tandem S series 7800 server G06.27, we are making new development using MQ Java base classes, we found a problem in our existing installation of MQ on tandem server that the "/opt/mqm/java" folder is empty and doesn't have any java related libraries.

We traced the problem and found the cause happened in MQ installation (wmqinstall.log), when it was asking about java path we entered wrong path in installation:
The correct path: "/usr/tandem/nssjava"
The wrongly entered path: "/usr/tandem/java"

Code:
2006-05-29 15:24:29   Please enter the root directory of your HP NonStop Java product.
2006-05-29 15:24:30   ...you selected "/usr/tandem/java" as the location of the
2006-05-29 15:24:30      Java product to be used with this installation.
2006-05-29 15:24:30   Please enter which components of WebSphere MQ you wish to install (CORE/SSL/ALL).
2006-05-29 15:24:30   ***** Call - validate_Component_install *****
2006-05-29 15:24:31   ...you selected "ALL" as the component to install.

So when it was validating the java it failed:
Code:
2006-05-29 15:25:30   ********************************************
2006-05-29 15:25:30   *     Validating optional pre-requisites   *
2006-05-29 15:25:30   ********************************************
2006-05-29 15:25:30   ***** Call - validate_java_version *****
2006-05-29 15:25:31   Validating HP NonStop Server for Java version
2006-05-29 15:25:31   Warning : the version of NonStop Server for Java "" is
2006-05-29 15:25:31   not compatible with WebSphere MQ, or Java is not accessible.

It seems it didn't install java components.

The problem now:
The MQ is already in production and used via a lot of applications, I want to install the java client without affecting the production setup(Queue manager/ Queue); can you provide me with the steps to do so?

The exact version of MQ is:
Code:
/G/SYSTEM/MQM: mqver
Name:        WebSphere MQ
Version:     530.06  CSD06
CMVC level:  p530-06-L050504
BuildType:   IKAP - (Production)

E-FIX Version:
Code:
GMT Binder timestamp:  17JUN2006 00:32:33
Version procedure:  T8432G09_30APR2003_CRTLMAIN
Version procedure:  T0085G06_16JUN2006_V53_0_0_EFIX_4
Native Mode:  runnable file

I would not use Java on anything as old as v5.3.6 - you need to be up to CSD10 at least, and CSD 12 for preference.

The earlier CSDs did not provide the most stable Java support, and I would not trust CSD6 in a production environment.

Vitor:
The V5.3 for Tandem is new and i think that this is the newer CSD.

This is really a Tandem packaging question, though, right?

"How do I add a package to an existing installation on Tandem?"

It's easy to do with SMIT or RPM - I dunno about Tandem. I'd hope the Quick Beginnings guide for Tandem (Is there one?) would include information on installation/maintenance that could help.
