They have posted the sessions and the times they are offered on the website.
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/websphere/events/impact2007/overview.html

Looks like you have to enroll in sessions
Seating is limited so don't wait too long to enroll.

Not as much MQ as previous conference and a lot of sessions are only offered once.

Luckily for me I was also wanting to learn more about WAS, and there are no shortage of WAS sessions.

Every time I've been at an IBM customer conference, there has been a strong emphasis on collecting atendee feedback.

Particularly if you are unhappy, this is a very important thing to contribute.

thanks for the heads-up on this one...

I going through the session schedule now... and there are some sessions that "interlock" on the same time like:
- Architecting solutions for performance on distributed WMQ and
- WebSphere MQ for z/OS: Product internals

one I don't want to miss and the other I would be very interested in, in knowing more about...

I noticed that 'interlock' also and am in the same dilema. Considering that there are only 20 MQ sesions offered and there are 21 'breakout series', you'd think that they would be able to avoid that situation.

I didn't go last year, so I don't know who taught what, but I noticed that serveral of the speakers that I really liked from previous conferences are not teaching this time. Many of the Hursley folks aren't coming or at least not as speakers.

I don't think that you can even view the curriculum unless you are registered for the conference. If you haven't enrolled and are considering going, you might want to get a list of the offerings first from someone who is.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I am a little pissed.

you can't see the online curriculum with the dates and times, but you can access the technical session information in pdf (1.8MB) here:

... and in the official notice:

You are now able to enroll in sessions using the link below.
Please note, this does not guarantee you a seat in the sessions. Seating at each session is based upon availability.

There will be a trends and directions pitch at IMPACT. It may be referred to as "Messaging Featured Session with panel Q&A", but regardless of the exact wording of the title, the session will be given by...

"Andrew Bainbridge, Director, WebSphere MQ & ESB Development, IBM Software Group, Application and Integration Middleware Software"

... as follows...

"Andrew Bainbridge and product strategists share their vision on technical trends and future directions for the WebSphere Application Integration family of products, including WebSphere MQ, WebSphere Message Broker and WebSphere ESB. A short presentation will be followed by discussion with a panel of IBM product developers and technical leaders who will be available for a question and answer session."

So come along, listen about the future and then you can ask our panel experts lots of questions.

Hope to see you there!

it's called: "Messaging: Session featuring panel discussion and Q&A" and found it by accident as the "Understanding and using WMQ administration and event interfaces" was cancelled and started to look for something else during that timeframe...

what is it with IBM and conference titles... is "Messaging (MQ/ESB) Trends & Directions" too easy to find

To add, this session is not mentioned in the WebSphere MQ or WebSphere Message Broker or Enterprise Service Bus Roadmap, only if you happen to select the SOA roadmap and then sub select the Entry PointsConnectivity roadmap you will find it...

from all sessions at Impact for anyone interested in MQ/Broker/ESB this is THE session to attend at least...

Michael, I've passed on your comments to the conference team. This sort of feedback should also be noted on the conference feedback forms so that it gets fixed for next time.

Cheers,
Ian

I went to the session and IMHO it was a big disappointment, which I already expressed during the session

During previous sessions at T&M conferences there was much more openess on what is to come in the near future,
this time it almost seemed like everybody was told to keep their mouth shut on any specifics...
ofcourse no one can comment on this but it was obvious not only to me, but also to others I spoke that saw the people on stage were not happy about it...

so what did I found out during the Impact 2007 event (in random order):
Code:

- Message Broker support for TIBCO RV Nodes (announced)
- Message Broker offload capability or tight integration with DataPower
offload XML and XML Security processing
- DataPower ability to deploy TransformationExtender maps (aka Mercator maps on DataPower)
- DataPower support for WS-Security 1.1
- WMQ/HTTP Gateway SupportPac (June, Cat 2 initially)
Clientside access to WMQ from the Web and HTTP-capable languages
- "SAM” PHP API (released in Feb)
Serverside access to WMQ from PHP
- SOAP and Standards Based Web services
  WMQ and SOAP/JMS
- WMQ Channel for Windows Communication Foundation
Native WMQ interface for WCF (Indigo)
- WMQ Service Definitions
Describing WMQ assets in a Service Registry

there may have been more specifics, but these were the ones I picked up.

I hope this was an incident (may be due to something entirely not related to the ESB products) and on the next Trends & Directions session IBM will be more open on what's in store...

Maybe I shouldn’t comment since I did not attend. However, some of our CICS team did attend and echoed many of the same sentiments mentioned earlier– less classes, rooms not able to accommodate the attendees, and conflicting classes only offered once. Considering the cost of attending, they where very much disappointed. If that type of feedback gets back to our management, we will probably stop attending.

It seems IBM wanted to turn this conference into a SOA and WAS selling conference per our CICSers. In our shop, CICS and MQ are integral part of the business and run our critical apps. IBM is making big dollars from us on hardware and software to run CICS and MQ. Not sure what IBM was thinking when putting together such a poor conference for shops running some of their flagship products – MQ and CICS.

I'll be in Vegas next year. Hope it is much improved.

I was unable to attend this year, but I am hearing a lot of this from others. Also, I have sensed a trend in this direction with these conferences. Last year's had many of the same problems. Sounds like this year's was just as bad or worse. It seems like IBM is just taking for granted that people will attend these conferences, whether they put forth the effort or not. They need to realize that budgets for such things are not as readily available as they were several years back, at least in most companies.

I ran into Sandy Carter Friday and told her my concerns (as well as filled in the eval.) (MQ/Broker centric)

1. Sometimes there were multiple, non-repeated MQ/WMB sessions at same time. Other times there were NO MQ/WMB sessions.

2. I found it difficult to link from the Session Descriptions to the Times unless I was online (which I wasn't during the breaks).

3. Many of the presentations were not online or available as handouts. Makes it hard to take notes.

4. Said I wouldn't be back if it there these problems weren't fixed.

I also agree with the comments that this appeared to be a poster child for IBM's SOA push. I spent 30 years with IBM and heard the same words, different 'next best architecture' several times before. Wouldn't it be nice if this were finally for real... but then, if it were, where would all the consultants be.
