I suspect it's a conflict in terms of DLLs between the MQ installation and an older application which could be wrongly replacing the DLLs in the system32 directory but...
When I install the base MQ6.0 package after eclipse I get to the end and find the following:
1. The MQ (Eclipse) explorer does not work. On startup is errors and states that a log can be found in "C:\Document" which is a badly parsed reference to "C:\Documents and Settings". As such it renders the installation usless unless I use the dos commands to manage MQ.
2. The windows installer no longer works (msiexec). It complains about a missing entry point which clearly points to a dll issue. Which in turn makes it impossible to remove or update the MQ installation or any other installed application or service pack
3. None of the mmc based management tools work. They simply hang or present blank screens.
The server installation is 2003 with SP1 installed. I could potentially list the other apps but it's a little sensitive and quite a few are proprietry.
Any ideas? I have attempted this 3 times now with constent results and no reported error during the installation.
I've found the problem, identified it yesterday and applied it correctly today...
In essence the MQ 6.0 installation can corrupt the COM security registry under certain circumstances. Rendering any application which uses the default COM security access inoperable - which includes the MMC based system management tools and the ability to install/deinstall applications.
I have a minor problem post application of the fix related to the inability to start/stop queue managers through the gui but the start/stop fine though the command line (srtmqm etc.).

Been there. Check that the password for the user in the Com setup for MQSeries is correct. We had to reboot the server after changing the password for it to take effect.
