I've scripted in the past on UNIX how to monitor MQ QMGR, Channels, and Queues using the runmqsc command. I've just encountered a need to do the same in a AS400 iSeries 595.

I'm looking for an application that will monitor specified Queue Managers,
Channels and Queues as specified in a configuration file.
• The application will send an e-mail alert for Queue Managers that are not running
• The application will send an e-mail alert for Channels that do not have a status of Running
• The application will send an e-mail alert for Queue that have a Current depth greater that a specified
threshold.
• All status will be reported and appended to a circular log file which will not be allowed to grow greater
than same threshold.
• The application will be scheduled using the iSeries Job Scheduler

While I do not want to complcate our operations console any further by implementing QPasa or alike I realize it may be my last resort.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I am by no means an AS400 type, but I do support MQ on that platform, as well as others. One of things I put together was to run MS03 nightly and, if it fails, send me an email. Basically, you're going to have to use CL, possibly REXX and/or develop custom code and cobble them together to do what you want. IMHO, the AS400 is a miserable platform to do any meaningful scripting. Good luck.

While it is possible to run MS03 on iSeries, it is also possible to run MS03 *remotely*, either as a client to iSeries or through a secondary qmgr.
