Can not communicate with flow engine - Agent is inactive
Used to work a while back
Have the right version
Stopped Agent and broker and restarted them in the correct order
Anything else... |

Check the agent log.
Confirm that the agent process is running.
Confirm that it has the port open for listening. Confirm that the network is allowing you access to that port. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Don't suspect a network problem when it could just be that the debugger isn't running.
Also, make sure that someone didn't start a debug session and leave it running. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I'm having this same problem. When I tried to configure the Debug, I recevied the following error:
"Cannot communicate with Flow Engine. Reason: Agent is Inactive."
How do we check to see if the port is open? What else could be causing this problem?
I am on Window XP Pro.
Thanks! |

Make sure the agent controller is running, and has been started BEFORE the broker was.
Don't suspect a network problem until you've eliminated other things. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanks for the quick reply! I stopped both broker and controller and then started the controller before the broker. It still has the same problem. Anything else I can try? |

When I had this problem a couple of months ago, I ended up rebooting the zLinux server where the broker resided on. I then restarted the controller before the broker and no longer received the error message. However, since I'm not very familiar with the debugging tools, I ended up using a trace node for my research instead. |
