Well, MQSeries was discounted about 3 years ago. It is now called WebSphere MQ.
IBM has over 14,000 customers world-wide (including almost every company on the Fortune 500) using WebSphere MQ on every type of platform. They own roughly 75% of the enterprise application messaging market. There is absolutely no way IBM is going to discount MQ.
You hear that noise? It is the sound of IBM UK getting ready to release WMQ v6.1 in a couple of months. (My money is it will be announced at Impact 2007 in May.)

Perhaps this new software will replace DB2 as well......
(Though there's many a true word spoken in jest!)
Trainee - here's another perspective. Let's say in 2 years IBM discontinue WMQ and produce WNS (Websphere New Shinything). There's going to be a tail-off period where support for WMQ will continue even if development has stopped. It's also inconceivable that all 14,000 customers will go "Gosh!" and immediately upgrade. If you don't believe me, do a search on the forum for how many people post questions about pre-v5.3 versions of MQ, and MQSI 2.1, both of which have been out of support, dead, gone for ages.
I mean, v6.0's been out for a while and people still post about v5.3. The site I'm on is only now thinking about upgrading, with a provisional plan to start Q3 this year. Maybe.
I also agree with Roger that IBM are not going to shout "April Fool!" and admit v6.1 is a bluff. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
