Hi,
I have the IBM Websphere MQ Version 6.0 installed on my PC(Windows XP). When I tried creating the QueueManager first time, it worked fine, i did a crtmqm, strmqm ....etc... But then i deleted this Queue manager and when I tried creating a new one, its now giving me the below error....
==========================================
AMQ8101: WebSphere MQ error (893) has occurred. Exitvalue=71
==========================================
Please suggest how to eliminate this error.
Thanks,

Did you delete the queue manager with dltmqm? It looks rather like the registry has retained some keys pertaining to it, so if you did use dltmqm you may wish to consider a PMR.
If you're only working locally the easiest thing might be to uninstall / reinstall MQ, cleansing the registry of MQ keys. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Hi Vitor,
I did use the command dltmqm to delete the Queue manager. How can we still go and check if the registry is clean....
Thanks,

Same as any botched bit of MSoft install. Uninstall WMQ, go through the registry removing any surviving key, reinstall WMQ & see if it helps.
The usual warnings about fiddling with the windows registry repeated here. No liability accepted for loss or damage howsoever caused, etc, etc, etc. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Hi,
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling WebSphere MQ on my PC. But still its giving me the same error.
****************************************
* Command: crtmqm -d CSQ6 -q QM_WIN_DEEP1
****************************************
There are 90 days left in the trial period for this copy of WebSphere MQ.
AMQ8101: WebSphere MQ error (893) has occurred.
exitvalue = 71
Any thoughts ?

Did you check for left over registry keys after uninstallation? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

If you need to ask the question, you probably shouldn't be messing with the registry....
Seriously, and with no disrespect intended, messing with the registry when you have a clear idea what you're doing is a good way of reducing your Windows install to a pile of grey goo. Editing the registry when you've no clear idea results in green, smelly goo (to quote Douglas Adams, it scares the willies out of me). I can't in good conscience recommend you have a try unless you're totally confident, or have really really good backups. In fact, not unless you're prepared to rebuild your machine from scratch.
Which is probably the better way to clean out the registry in the last analysis.
If you decide to have a poke round, uninstall WMQ & look for keys connected to MQ and/or IBM product. If they don't seem connected to installed software (like DB2 or JDBC drivers) then remove them, reboot and reinstall MQ if your machine restarts ok.
I reiterate that this is not a safe procedure; it's like fixing a watch with a hammer and chisel. One false move and you'll never know the time again. If there is Windows adminsitrator on site you'd be well advised to seek his advise.
I repeat that this is at your own risk and all you get are my good wishes. Do a rebuild if you've got the CD; if you've no CD find one because you're likely to need it...... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
