Hi nab054371,
http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=34788&highlight=
IBM is an MNC too
Anyway such things happen, perhaps its arguable that incase you travelled a long way to give that interview, you should have actually called before you started.
And as far as not wanting to work with IBM India...tell me one company in India you want to work with....they are more or less the same, after all like IBM India, they are all being run by Indians
IBM has its own pros and cons, which you'll know only when ur "in the blue"
Regards. |

Elvis,
I am not sure if I agree to your statement ,that I should be calling prior to making it to an interview, maybe ur an IBM'er and are partial to that company.
If a company calls me for an interview and reschedules it for whatever reason, the onus lies on the company to make sure that they inform me,there is no way for me to know even in the wildest dreams,I guess any professional company should and most would. As for what company I wanna work for,hmm we shall see, will let u know where I land up though!
Neway I have worked for blue before(IN US though),thats why I was categorical in saying "IBM INDIA" |

You'd be surprised (or perhaps not) how many don't. I've got into the habit of ringing the day before to check; this has (in rare cases) acted to remind them!
We're all just resources for the corporate machine, conceptually the same as photocopiers but with more legal protections.
And in many cases less bright... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

There are stupid people everywhere. Stupidity is not a privilege of Indians, Americans, Europeans, black or white. And disrespect usually comes together, and sometimes, masked in discriminatory jokes. _________________ Warm Regards,

Just make sure that when you travel to interview, that the company is paying the travel tab. DO NOT use your own money on the pretext of getting reimbursed later. I've been burned by this once before. Make sure the travel tab is billed to the company. That way, if they cancel, you're not left holding the bill. _________________ IBM Certified MQSeries Specialist

Nothing new form IBM INDIA. They treat their clients same way. Apparently more or less IBM behaves with its cleints same way all over the world. |

Hi emiranda,
I'm an Indian too(and quite proud of that), so that should have made me the last person to make such a statement, but facts are facts....there are some things which you can only see in Indian companies and not in MNCs, let's not get into details
And also, i'm not talking about stupidity...asking a person to attend an interview and not informing him about it's cancellation is not stupidity but something else...
End of the day, i'm not bitching about anyone, I only asked nab054371 to forgive and forget
Regards. |

Nothing like that, was sharing my personal view. nab054371 must have had better experience with IBM. |

Well I for one am not going to knock "Big Blue".
Their software inflexibilities and inadequecies have kept me gainfully employed for almost 30 years now.
Long may they, and others continue to take a good idea and stop half way towards making it a great idea!
ps. I do think it is incredibly rude not to contact someone if you need to cancel an interview though. (Especially if travel is involved).
Having said that I think I would have tried to speak to the person that arranged the interview and ask why I wasn't informed of the change in schedule rather than rant on a message board. There may have been an emergency crop up. |

That's it elvis_ng, just getting the word right...
Even "most" of the Indian companies are doing this or that, I'm sure some companies are not. And when you say
