A quick question here.. I applied Refresh Pack 2.0 for MQ Server software 6.0 on variety of servers (AIX, HP-UX, SUN, Windows, AS/400 etc.,).
1. My question is.. Can this fix pack be applied on MQ Client
softwares as well?
In other words, can we apply RP2.0 on MQ Client softwares as well?
2. This question is applied only if a FIX PACK is not required for MQ
Client software:
Considering the fact that RP2.0 has got many fixes including the DST
fix in it, is it OK if i leave the MQ Client software at 6.0 level? How does
the MQ Client software cope up with the DST effect?
Please advise on the options available on this.
Please forgive me if my question is too silly and i hope you will answer this question seeing my ignorance in the issue.
Thank you all in advance. |

Hi
The MQ Client is different and MQ Seriver is different.
RP 2 is only for MQ Server not for the MQ Client.
Thanks and Regrads

Thank you Gaya3 for your reply. I appreciate your reply.
But can you please answer the below questions as well: This will be informative for me and as well as for others who read this post.
1. I've heard that we can bring MQ Clients to 6.0.2.0 using some support pac.. Is this correct? If so, how can we do that?
2. Are you sure that we need not have any DST fix for MQ Clients 6.0?
I appreciate your reply.
Thank you once again. |

I'm at a really big shop and we don't use client from the supportpacs. Our software management group has it on a unix server and we order it from there and ftp it down.
Last week I upgraded a 5.3.0.8 MQ Client install to 6.0.2.0 on AIX via the method of ordering the client and ordering the RP for server. The server simply has more filesets for aix or RPMs for Linux.
I've done the same thing in 5.3 for few years.
Client on the supportpacs is generally updated to the latest version and that's good. But I often have to build another environment for an existing application and it needs to match the existing environments.
Cheers

I am struggeling to install this RP on Win 2003 Server. It keeps failing - it complains about files in use. When I rename those listed as 'in use', it fails due to not being able to find them. Round and round we go. Turned Mq service to manual startup and booted the box but FP's still claiming that same files are in use. This box have been upgraded to WMQ 6.0. Anyone with helpful hints ??? |

I faced similar problem in 5.3 version and we found that stopping the Windows Management Instrumentation and any monitoring tool like Patrol helped
Give it a try. _________________ Sanvij

One place I worked at, we had similar problems with CSD's not installing do to NETIQ running, we just shut it down and the CSD's would go in properly. |

You might as well re-install the entire MQ client from the latest release.
However I recently applied the 6.0.2 refresh to my laptop which had only the MQ client and the MQ Explorer installed and it seemed to apply OK. |
