I have installed WMQ 5.3 on a new PC (i.e. not upgrade from 5.2) under WinNT V4.0 SP6. Install OK, queue managers created and running, with their services. However there is no 'Services' icon in the 'IBM Websphere MQ' startup menu and when I select 'All Tasks/Services' for a queue manager I get the error message 'The selected file is not an MMC document'; the same message occurs when I select 'Websphere MQ Sevrices' from the task bar icon.
I am able to view and access the services by adding the Snap-In from the console, but am puzzled why the Services function does not appear to have installed correctly. Has anyone else come across this behaviour? |

Just installed MQ 5.3 on W2K - no probs. The services snap-in works fine. Can only assume it is related to NT4. Have you tried to re-install?

Yes, eventually I did....and of course it was fine the second time around! All I can think is that I must have skipped past one of the install steps although I don't know how or where...the installation certainly completed cleanly with no errors and all the pre-reqs were in place...anyway, nit worth dwelling on now. |

I had the same problem. I had to install MMC as it was not on my system. I then installed MQSeries without restarting my system first (it was not required). I believe that's where my problem stemmed from. Did you have to install MMC as well?
The reinstall worked. Thanks! _________________ Regards,

Gina,
You are probably correct...this was a freshly configured company machine, and I believe I did have to install MMC...and that I did not reboot after the MQ install....thanks. |

When I installed it on NT I had the service shortcut. When my co-worker installed it on NT, his service shortcut didn't come up.
I am sure that there is a reason, but since you can add the MQ Service console to the same MMC console that had MQ Explorer, that's probably the best way to do it anyway.
