Hello everyone,

I am new using Websphere MQ. I am installing Websphere 5.3 on windows 2003. There is a readme file I found on the internet that says CSD04 or (fix patch 4) is a pre-requisit for 5.3 to be installed on windows 2003. I could find any ther instructions to install it.

Can some one help me with this? I need a way to apply CSD04 on Websphere 5.3 before installing it on a windows 2003 platform?

Please help any way you can.

Hakim

Make sure the installer you have for the base product has been refreshed to CSD04.

I'd be surprised if the version on PartnerWorld/Passport Advantage was not at least CSD7.

That is the problem. I can not install the base version. It complains that It is not for windows XP

I tride to find out what is wrong and on the internet I found a document that says it is working and CSD04 is pre-requisit. What I did not understand is that how a Patch can pre-requisit with no instructions!?

Has any one installed MQ 5.3 on windows 2003?
Can some one tell me how to do it?

Known problem with XP with GA1 release.

Try a silent install using:

mqparms AMQ_XP_INSTALL_PENDING_CSD=4

then install the CSD, again silently. Search the IBM website for the v5.3 Quick Beginnings for Windows manual which details silent install.

I don't know if this will work but it's worth a try.

Thanks every body for your replies.

Couple of things that needs to be metioned is:
1. I am doing a remote installation. That is to say there is an .exe file for the base and an .exe for CSD04 on a shared folder on the network.
2. I don't have any of the CD content available to me.

Now how can I create a response file?
Would it be possilbe to extract the exe file and re-assemble everything?
If yes how can i do that?

Please help

Thanks

Have tried it, it still not working. The error messages reads "This version does not support XP yet. ..."

It seems the only way is to refresh the base with CSD04 or latter. But the questions is whoe knows how to do it!?

The only people who can refresh the installer are IBM.

You need to go get a new exe.

I guess, this was a special solution for MQ 5.3 on WinXP - because the base product was not installable on XP ...

If you are trying to install from the 'Launch Pad' it will fail...if you are really, really stuck PM me.

Correct, and the only way to install it was command line.

Well there is no need to refress he installer, the work aroun is silent install. But unfortunately it does not work and can not make sense of the log file either.

If any has a clue I can send the log file. It is too big to post it here
