How to trigger a batch job(COBOL)

I m working on z/os.
I need to trigger a batch job instead of cics transaction for first message arriving on the queue.Please advise if its possible

Yes, it should be explained in the manuals. You need a batch trigger monitor running. Check out the support pacs.

Alternatively schedule the application batch job on a regular basis and allow for queue to be empty in the code.

It should also process all messages until the queue is empty.
