If you're like me and you've spent a bunch of time putting together the perfect profile on LinkedIn, why not get it out there for prospective employers, business partners, coworkers, etc, to see?
You might notice that at the bottom of my post there's now a little "LinkedIn" icon next to the AIM and email buttons. Clicking this will take you to my LinkedIn public profile.
Do you want to do the same? It's easy...
1. Signup at http://www.linkedin.com if you haven't already
2. Make sure your LinkedIn public profile is enabled. You can check with this url:
http://www.linkedin.com/myprofile?editwp=
3. Update your MQSeries.net profile to include your LinkedIn profile. The url to do this is:
http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/profile.php?mode=editprofile
If you've done everything correctly, a LinkedIn icon should appear in all of your posts!
I wrote this code myself and I'd appreciate any feedback because I'm thinking of submitting it as an official phpBB mod:

Disclaimer: I work for LinkedIn and yes this is a bit of self-promotion but I think this feature will add value to MQSeries.net because now you can see the professional credentials of the person answering your question - this may cause you to give more or less weight to it. _________________ Brandon Duncan

I realized that not everyone's public profile has a URL of the form:
http://www.linkedin.com/in/username
So I've updated the feature to allow you to enter URLs of the form:
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/x/xxxxxx
Please let me know what you think of the feature and whether there's anything else I should do to it _________________ Brandon Duncan

Okay, I had one of our UI guys make a better icon that fits the look and feel of the rest of the phpBB icons.
As far as changes at LinkedIn, we see this as a good thing. Our new CEO is experienced at growing and managing teams, which frees Reid to focus on our products and long term vision.
There were many other articles about the change that took a much more optimistic tone, for instance this one from Red Herring:
