Hello,
I have setup MB with DB2 as default database.. but wish to connect to Oracle database access data for validating XML messages using ESQL.

How to achieve this.. ? I have a message flow in place .. and coded ESQL in COMPUTE node.. but when i use the select statement.. messages doesn't get picked from up from MQINPUT node.

Am not sure on where to look for DB errors, debug SQL.

Connecting to Oracle is of higher priority though.

Thanks,

Maanav

You need to create an Oracle datasource, and then put the name of that datasource in your flow.

There is an entire section on troubleshooting and another section on debugging in the Information Center. But both of these topics should have been covered in the training you got on WMB.

After create the Datasource you configure that DSN to the Broker using with "mqsisetdbparams" command.

Then you mention that DSN name in the compute node properties.

I will try and explain how things are ..

We have MB setup on Unix box, access the same thru Toolkit installed on Windows. Broker database is DB2. Connection to MQ, simple message flows are working fine, now we wish to introduce ESQL and connect to Oracle database for user / application tables and validate some messages.

I as user mqm am not able to run mqsisetdbparams command.

By datasource if you mean, database, and tables.. yes those exist on a another UNIX box.

We have modified ODBC.ini file. Not sure :

a> If and how broker is to be granted access to database?
b> How to make ESQLs work and fetch data from Oracle database.
c> How to verify if MB can connect to database and fetch data? Any setup to be done in MB , run some test to ensure if conneciton works well? Any Message Set/flow or databse connection to be modified / introduced?

I never got any training though.

Yes. I can tell.

You should have.

You can't set the credentials that broker uses to connect to a datasource without running mqsisetdbparms.

Every other part of your questions is in the Information Center, and is basic use of the product. Please go read and learn and think.
