The migration manual has lengthy detailed section on the topic of SSL certificate migration. The lead-in paragraph contains this text:
WebSphere MQ Version 6.0 provides the Global Security Toolkit (GSKit) on
Windows platforms for improved SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) support for queue
manager and WebSphere MQ client channels. Follow the guidance in this section
to determine whether WebSphere MQ Version 5.3 queue managers or clients have
been set up to use SSL connections, and to ensure these channels continue to work
with WebSphere MQ Version 6.0. The migration process causes a copy of the
certificates stored in the WebSphere MQ Certificate Stores used by WebSphere MQ
Version 5.3, to be migrated to a GSKit Key database.
My question is: Does this section of the Migration Manual address Windows only?
There should be a specific manual or instructions somewhere for zOS. I believe all the unix platforms of v5.3 used GSKit already. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general.
Yes, that section of the Migration Manual addresses Windows only.
WMQ V5.3 for Windows used Microsoft certificate stores for certificate management and WMQ V6.0 for Windows uses GSKit. This change in underlying certificate management application brings Windows in line with Unix and leads to a few migration considerations, as described in the manual. Other platforms did not change their certificate management application.
