The monitoring manual says that MQSeries Queues can be looked at in the Windows Performance Monitor. Anybody know where this is in Windows Performance Monitor?
I'm assuming that the Performance application accessible via Administrative Tools and labelled 'Performance' is the application the manual refers to, but I don't see MQSeries Queues in there anywhere. |

It is that application (or I guess it is) - if you do an "Add Snap In" you'll find IBM MQ one of the options. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

On a Windows MQ queue manager (only), perfmon will have MQSeries performance objects in the standard drop down list when you add a performance counter. No snap-ins needed. |

Thats where my problem lies. When I try add snap-in, I don't see IBM MQ listed. I tried both the console and extensions tabs, and the system console performance logs and other options below but IBM MQ does not appear in any of the lists that I have seen for add snap-in. |

Do you have a Server install? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Yes, but this laptop is insane (or senile) and due for replacement. Some days I know how it feels.
Not impossible the install went funny or something bad has happened since. I trust Windows as far as I can spit. It's certainly not the first time something unexplicable has happened.

I don't trust Windows even that far, and my problems are different from yours and most likely related to inexperience with MMC and the Performance Snap-In.
#1. 'IBM MQ' does not show up in any of the add Snap-In lists I looked at.
#2. ZPAT says it will show up when I add a Performance Counter but I don't see how to do this. |

I think jefflowrey is right and you need a server install locally to get the plug-in.

Not having the plug-in would prevent this. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I have complete Installations of MQ6.0 and MQBroker 6.0 with the latest CSDs and recommended fixes. I also have MQBroker 6.0 Toolkit at 6.0.2.
In order to add the IBM MQ Snap-In, would I be attempting to add it from the base MMC application or from the Performance App?
I'm running multiple queue managers and several brokers. |

I added it from the Performance app.
I should mention here that I added it having found the section in the manual, looked at it, thought "Right..." and have not looked at it again since until you posted!
Just thought you should be clear on the level of expertise I'm bringing to this discussion, i.e. not much. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

This is what I did.
Ran the performance app.
Selected "System Monitor".
Clicked on "Add" (The + button).
Then "MQSeries Queues" is an option in "Performance object". _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
