Dear Masters,
one Germany-specifical problem.
We have in Germany decimals with COMMA as DDD,DD, not like in USA with POINT DDD.DD.
If I read Database (DB2, v
SET Environment.Variables.HUHU =
THE (SELECT ITEM T.BEITR_JSB FROM <Database>.<Table> WHERE ...
where the field BEITR_JSB is DECIMAL(9,2) NOT NULL
I get this Exception

ErrorText : Invalid characters
Error Number : BIP2592
Could not find a more detailled error description !
Error fields are:
Field number 1 : -1
Field number 2 : S22018
Field number 3 : 13,13

It doesn't matter, which "Regional and Language Option" I use, "Germany" or "USA" on the server, where WMB runs.

I think my answer is out of date for you, but it must be helpful for others.
I had the same error S22018 in my environment:
OS - Windows Server 2003
WMB 6.1
IBM DB2 v8.1.15 for Windows
In my case, the problem with comma decimal separator was solved by adding following workaround to ODBC data source in file db2cli.ini
[YOUDB]
PATCH2=15
DBALIAS=YOUDB
