I have done a cursory glance and I don't see a way to request that your report messages be a different priority than the original message.

I just thought it might come in handy with request reply where the reports are only used for historical or other non-priority purposes.

Does any one know how to specify say COA with a lower priority?

From the APR, MQMD->Report field, Contents of the message descriptor for a report message

Quote:
Priority - Copied from the original message descriptor

So, if the service program does not copy the MQMD fields but uses the defaults, then if I set a low priority on the request, I sould get the default priority on the reply.

I would then get the different priorities I want. Hmmm, I will check the service program.

No, where did you get that from?

The priority (and other MQMD fields) of system-generated msgs is the same as the original msg.

Nigel -
He meant that request(low)->COA(low)->HIS program->reply(normal)

COAs are not generated by an application, but by the QMgr itself. So you have no chance, to influence the MQMD of a COA report message.

Hubert,

Sure you do, just as Jeff said what I meant!

The COA is whatever priority the request is.

The Reply can be any thing the Server makes it. The Reply is not made by the server.

I meant the reply is not made by the QMGR but by the Server program.

Joseph,

of course it could make sense, to send COAs with lower priority than the request messages, but does it make sense, to send a reply with a higher priority than the request?
