Two boxes A and B.
A running on VMS Alpha AXP v7.3-2 with MQ 5.3 CSD 10. QmgrName - QMA
B running on Windows NT with MQ 5.3 CSD 7 QmgrName - QMB
QMA and QMB connect each other via regular SDR/RCVR Channel.
We observed following steps:
1. Upgraded server A from OS level AXP v7.3-1 to OS level AXP v7.3-2
2. Upgraded MQ 5.1 to MQ 5.3 CSD 10.
After installation:
* Channel from QMB to QMA went into retrying status.
While channel from QMA to QMB is working fine.
Upon degrading server A back; i.e. from OS level AXP v7.3-2 to AXP v7.3-1 and also MQ 5.3 CSD10 to MQ 5.1, both channels work fine (they have been working like that so far).
MQ Error log on Server A (VMS):
12/12/06 15:28:41
AMQ9516: File error occurred.
EXPLANATION:
The filesystem returned error code 65535 for file
'/mqs_root/mqm/qmgrs/QMA/@ipcc/AMQRFCDA.DAT'.
ACTION:
Record the name of the file '/mqs_root/mqm/qmgrs/QMA/@ipcc/AMQRFCDA.DAT'
and tell the systems administrator, who should ensure that file
'/mqs_root/mqm/qmgrs/QMA/@ipcc/AMQRFCDA.DAT' is correct and available.
----- BROOT:[LIB.REMOTE]AMQRCDFA.C;1 : 493 ------------------------------------
12/12/06 15:28:41
AMQ9999: Channel program ended abnormally.
EXPLANATION:
Channel program 'QMB to QMA' ended abnormally.
ACTION:
Look at previous error messages for channel program 'QMB to QMA' in
the error files to determine the cause of the failure.
----- SRC_ROOT:[LIB.REMOTE]AMQRMRSA.C;1 : 468 ---------------------------------
and MQ error log on server B (NT):
12/10/2006 11:34:30
AMQ9002: Channel 'QMB to QMA' is starting.
EXPLANATION:
Channel 'QMB to QMA' is starting.
ACTION:
None.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12/10/2006 11:34:31
AMQ9503: Channel negotiation failed.
EXPLANATION:
Channel 'QMB to QMA' between this machine and the remote machine could
not be established due to a negotiation failure.
ACTION:
Tell the systems administrator, who should attempt to identify the cause of the
channel failure using problem determination techniques. For example, look for
FFST files, and examine the error logs on the local and remote systems where
there may be messages explaining the cause of failure. More information may be
obtained by repeating the operation with tracing enabled.
----- amqrmssa.c : 1264 -------------------------------------------------------
12/10/2006 11:34:31
AMQ9999: Channel program ended abnormally.
EXPLANATION:
Channel program 'QMB to QMA' ended abnormally.
ACTION:
Look at previous error messages for channel program 'QMB to QMA' in
the error files to determine the cause of the failure.

There also may have been an FDC/FFST file that would have contained more information. In that file there would have been one or more header blocks that contained ProbeIds. You can use the search field at http://www.ibm.com/ to search for support documents related to those ProbeIds, by putting them into the search field. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I thought you said this was 5.3 CSD10?
This FDC says it is CSD06 doesn't it? (Or am I missing somthing here?)

Nice catch.
VMS administrator told me that CSD10 is applied and I took the words.
I am not a VMS admin but guess I should have looked that in more details. Thanks. |

Does this have anything to do with this thread?
In both cases the answer is yes. Check the documentation for your platform for details (it varies). _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Hi Kats,
To migrate from MQ51 to WMQ53 for OpenVMS, you need to be at a minimum level of MQ5.1 CSD04.
If you are not at MQ51 CSD04 level, you will need to recreate your queue manager once you install WMQ53. You can take the help of support packs like ms03 to take a backup of your mq objects first.
Thanks,
HR |
