You're sure the command server is running for these queue managers?

Also that there's none of the usual suspects: log entriess, FDC, etc, etc?

Does the command server handle PCF requests?
And does that server only need to run for MQ Explorer or does it need to be running for all applications?

Thanks

Programmable COMMAND Format requests - it might well do.

Do you mean applications that don't issue commands? They tend not to need it, but why wouldn't you leave it running?

Im pretty sure the application that im using uses PCF to request a list of q's channels etc.
So im assuming then this server isnt running. How do I start it up?

Thanks again

It's certainly how other platforms do it, though I'm not familar with this Hermes thing; did a Google search & got a Harvard Phd thesis!!!

You need to issue the start command as an MQ administrator from the command prompt or Windows services (as applicable); this (and perhaps more importantly for your expressed requirement how to stop it again) are in the Administration manual. Along with how to secure it, a better technique than stopping it again.

There's also some other good stuff in there on care & feeding for queue managers you might want to check out.

HermesJMS is a free Java thing that does JMS stuff and so works okay with WMQ for basic interactions and yes it uses PCF for some non JMS functionality.

Please report the bugs otherwise they'll never get fixed.
