We passed all terminals SNA, LU6, APPC to MQ without touching a single line of code by OTMA with the MQ-Brigde.
And if badly I am not informed, the MQ (at least for ZOS) beginning in the laboratory of CICS to occur to the CICS which has the IMS, the possibility of queues of Transactions.
Regards

CICS and IMS were the first transaction processors. Large shops (banks, insurance companies, government agencies) world-wide are heavily invested in CICS and IMS applications. These applications work(read: legacy), have paid for themselves over and over, and there is little/no incentive (read: business case) to rewrite them.

Mainframes still host nearly all the worlds business data (Gartner Group). Nearly all of the $ that businesses exchange are processed on mainframes (Gartner).

IBM's Enterprise Service Bus (Common Connector Facility) provides a wide variety of interface enabling components. Newer applications (batch, online, web-based, other platform, MQ, etc.) can be clients of CICS/IMS applications.

And the very early versions of MQ on the mainframe didn't have a Channel Address Space. They used CICS for the Channels.

Cheers,
