hello~
I have some problem to installing MQ v5.3 on HPUX 11.23
I had installed MQ v5.3 on HPUX 11.11 successfully for several times.
when I installing on HPUX 11.11
1. log on as root.
2. swinstall
3. input source depot path
4. select MQSeris~~~~~~(appear two items : gsk6bas , MQSeries~~)
5. Actions tab -> install
but I try to intalling on HPUX 11.23
1. log on as root
2. swinstall
3. input source depot path
4. there's no MQSeries~~~ ( appear only one item : gsk6bas)
5. fail to install
what's the problem?
how can I intalling MQ V5.3 on HPUX 11.23....?

hello~ everyone~
I found the solution.
in options tab -> check 'Allow installation of incompatible software'
after that appear MQSERIES on selection box
but I have a question..
is there no problem?? just installing??

1. check 'Allow installation of incompatible software'
2. install MQ v5.3 on HPUX 11.23
3. check installation
- /opt/mqm : files and directory is created.
- /var/mqm : there's no files or directory. empty.
- path is not set up.
- /opt/mqm/bin/mqver : Unexpected Error
(crms1 [/opt/mqm/bin]# ./mqver
Unexpected Error
)
4. I think that installation is something wrong.
5. I found a article that when MQ v5.3 on hpux 11.23 is need the fixpack 10 at IBM site.
6. download MQ v5.3 fixpack 10 and try to install on HPUX
7. I met this error message in swinstall.

Looks like you installed wrong version of software,
You should install the RISC version for HP Unix I guess, there is another Version for Itanium HP servers |

I use same media file on hpux 11.11 and hpux 11.23
It works on hpux 11.11 but doesn't on hpux 11.23
1. hpux 11.11
mqm@crdb1 [/home1/mqm]$ uname -a
HP-UX crdb1 B.11.11 U 9000/800 3485285574 unlimited-user license
mqm@crdb1 [/home1/mqm]$
2. hpux 11.23
$ uname -a
HP-UX crms2 B.11.23 U ia64 2427860545 unlimited-user license
$
the difference between two servers is 11.11<->11.23 and 9000/800 <->ia64

My Guess, based on HP Quick Beginings
The operating systems supported by WebSphere MQ for HP-UX, V5.3 are:
HP-UX Version 11i (11.11) (32 bit)
HP-UX Version 11.0 (32 bit) with patches PHSS_24627 (or any superseding patch), and PHSS_22543.
If you need to convert to or from codepages associated with Chinese, Japanese, or Korean locales on HP-UX V11.00, you need to install the Asian System Enviroment (ASE).

Looks like the base 5.3 is not supported 11.23 HP UX version, ( may be 11.23 is 64 bit vesrsion)
Also 5.3 Base code without CSD is (i.e the first version was issued a while back) ,and it is 32 bit code.
I have no Idea if 5.3 csd12 will work on 11.23 , Or If there is a 64 bit version or some other 5.3 version that is compatible to 11.23 HP UX software |

HPUX has two cpu type.
one is sparc, the other is itanium.
I had try to set up on HPUX 11.23 and itanium.
MQ v5.3 support sparc but doesn't support itanum.
MQ v6.0 has another verion of media that support itanuim.

What is the hardware architecture? Please post the output from uname -a. If this is an IA64 machine then you can not run WebSphere MQ 5.3.
The machine_type in the packaging is set to require System 9000, series 700 or 800 architecture in order to prevent it being installed on IA64, by using 'allow incompatible software ... ' you circumvent this protection.
If you need to run WebSphere MQ on IA64 you should install Version 6.

I got a new media(MQv6.0.1.0) from IBM support center.
and installation successfully
$ uname -a
HP-UX ktfsb B.11.23 U ia64 3840309337 unlimited-user license
$ dspmqver <- this commnad is changed between MQ5.3 and 6.0
Name: WebSphere MQ
Version: 6.0.1.0
CMVC level: p600-100-051021
BuildType: IKAP - (Production)
$
