I am able to put a message on SYSTEM.COMMAND.INPUT
msg.writeUTF("DISPLAY QL(COLLATERAL.TO.DTCC.DEV0) CURDEPTH");

but the message data on the reply queue is :
CSQN205I COUNT= 1, RETURN=00D5020F, REASON=FFFFFFFF

The target QM is v6 on z/OS. Is there an ASCII to EBCDIC translation issue? The system putting the message is java on windows.

The queue exists and has a depth.

Do not use writeUTF... it should only be used as a pair with readUTF.

Make sure your message is in MQSTR format.
See how those changes impact the response and let us know.
