Hi,
I am attempting to copy a message set object. However on pasting the object's properties do not get copied.
Is there a way to do this?

Try generating xsds from the message set and importing those into the new one....

Consider a message set that has types in a sequence as in
Type1
Type2
Type3
I need another Type4, which is very similar to Type1. I need to jus make one change in the group indicator for this. How can i copy paste jus Type1(for all its properties) as well. it is a complextype with sequences as welll.

I assume you've tried this using the message set editor, and been unsuccessful.
Message Set files are .mxsds, which is to say "Modified XSDs". You can change which editor you use to open them, and open them as text, and do some careful copy/paste. Then switch the editor you're using back to the Message Set Editor, and make sure your message set is still good.
Backups are your friend in situations like this.
