Hi there,

I'm a newbie.

I wonder how to get QM list without a connection to a QM (like IBM Websphere MQ Explorer).

There is any thing like a system queue manager hold these info?

Thx.

If there was a system queue manager, wouldn't you still need to connect to it to obtain the information....

If you want a list of all MQ objects on a queue manager (like the view in Explorer) then you can obtain the information from the queue manager programatically via PCF commands (there's a manual & too much information to repeat here!). If you want a list of all queue managers, that's stored in a platform specific way & you don't mention a platform. One simple method (and not necessarially the best) is to itterate through the sub-folders of qmgrs in your file system to obtain the names.

May I enquire why you'd trying to avoid Explorer? It's not a bad wheel and there's no immediate need to reinvent it I can see straight off.

Thx Victor,

By your advice, I've found can get QM list in registry (Windows platform).

I avoid Explorer because I'm writing a light Explorer version :p that prevent user can't change system info like deleting, altering... just only in running, starting and stopping specify services.

Thx again ^^.

Be aware that your method (obviously) only works on Windows. The method I suggested works on any platform.

Having said that, your method works well on Windows!

Interested by your app - starting / stopping services requires administraor / mqm level authority. Who needs that, but can't change QM attributes or definitions?

Just interested. It's your wheel; you roll it how you want!
