In the MQ using Java manual, it says "Non- durable subscribers automatically deregister themselves when their close() method is called (or when they fall out of scope). I was wondering what does it mean by "fall out of scope"

If I am not using JMS pub/sub, does it mean that the application which registered to the broker as non durable subscriber must explicitly unregister ? Otherwise there is no difference between durable or non-durable subscription?
