Hi All!
Can we define Business Processes in WebSphere Message Broker v6 OR do we need to use WebSphere Business Modeller & Integration Developer for this purpose? Or is Message broker only there to define discrete message flows?
Kindly also tell us whether Broker can maintain (Preseve) State of a Process. For example; in the middle of the flow, if a request goes out to a service, can broker maintain the state of the process while the request is replied and once it is back restart the process from that point onwards?
Regards,
Sajid. |

Actually I've read about the broker and also have some knowledge of how it works, but there is a confusion in our mind that whether we can use it to design our business processes and whether it can save the state of the processes, because I've read in few case studies that they use it to orchestrate there business processes. I want an expert opinion on this from someone who is a guru of broker

Sajid. |

Yes, it is possible through a variety of means to maintain state in a Message Broker flow.
The reason I pointed you at the overview is that your specific question about request/reply indicates that you don't have knowledge of basic parts of Broker. Broker has a specific set of nodes designed specifically to address this need - the Aggregate* nodes.
Generally, people do not consider Broker to be suitable for "Business Processes", though. There are two main reasons. One is that people think "Business Process" == "BPEL", and broker doesn't do BPEL. The other is that most people think of Broker as the core of an ESB - and the ESB is not supposed to run Business logic, per se, just provide services like routing, transformation, event services, etc. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
