Hi All,
While migrating MQ 5.3 to MQ 6.0 i faced a strange problem.
O/S - HP-UX 11 i (64 bit)
These're the steps that i followed....
1. Stoped the Queue managers
2. Stoped the Listeners
3. Stoped all MQ activities infact
4. I ensured before uninstalling using ps command
5. Unistalled MQ 5.3
6. Unistalled gsk6bas
7. Installed MQ 6.0
8. Ensured that gsk7bas and gsk7bas64 installed.
After that i tried to install the fixpack 6.0.1.1, but while intalling it prompted an error called "Queue manager is running" so it came out from installing.
Infact the queue managers are stoped manually in the beginning, and i checked once again using dspmq, it is not running at all,
When i executed ipcm -m | grep mqm , i can view some mqm processes running,
i killed it and started the fixpack installation, but it went to the same problem again.
Please let me know what is the problem exactly, is it some thing related to Kernel parameters, does we want to meet the mininmum kernel parameters mentioned in the pdf.
Please help me to solve this issue.
Regards

I doubt that is your problem, but you SHOULD make the changes to the kernel parameters as specified in the pdf. _________________ -wayne |

You can trace the install scripts to see what is going on, create a file /tmp/wmq_debug_install containing the value '2'. That will cause the scripts to be run with set -x and the output should be available in the swinstall log. What I expect to see is a non-zero return code from the shared resouces cleanup program, amqiclen. In that case you can try running that program from the command line with the aditional option -v ( /opt/mqm/bin/amqiclen -v -x ), the output from that should give us a clue as to what the problem is. _________________ Philip Morten

Hi
Great, yes i was getting a return value zero,
So I think i have to clean the shared memory, before installing the fix-pack.
Thanks...
I'll let you know about the status
