Hi all

I am using Websphere 5.1 in Win 2003 enterpirse edition SP1. My disk space is full because I found one MQ log file (Q) is very very large (36.9G) located in

\\program files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\Qmgrs\WAS_hkiapp53_jmsserver\QUEUES\SYSTEM!DEAD!LETTER!QUEUE\Q

I won't install MQ in my application server. I wonder to know how to clear this queue automatically.

Please help

Well Kelvin, don't know what requires such a big message. I hope you are not using the queue as a DB. MQ is not made for that and will make you pay the price.

In the meantime you need to add diskspace.

Enjoy

Thanks.

BTW, I think that WAS is automatically create Queue in JMSSERVER. All I saw was Dead Letter queue in Jmsserver.

I would like to know how to limited (set) the Queue size (max 10G or less).

How to truncate the queue automatically?

You can issue "clear queue" against this queue.

You can configure a dead letter queue handler against it if you are actually running full MQ instead of embedded messaging.

You *might* want to look at some of those messages on the dead letter queue to understand why they are there and then fix the cause of the problem (rather than trying to fix the symptom).

monitoring of queues - especially the DLQ - would be a good trick .
