I am new to JMS pub/sub. I have been reading the forum and the IBM manuals.
mqjmssub.java and mqjmspub.java are two samples supplied by IBM for use with MA0C. If I am correct , MA0C ,MQseries pub/sub uses RFH and not RFH2. The IBM pub/sub manuals for message broker suggested that new pub/sub applications should be using RFH2 so that extra functions provided by the integration broker can be exploited.
We are planning to migrate from MQ pub/sub to the borker. I am not a JMS expert. But reading the source code of mqjmssub or mqjmspub, there is no where in the code to specify what RFH to generate. I was wondering how can I migrate this program to use the broker when we have the broker in house.
Will broker V6 take the JMS subscription without change ?

Don't use MA0C. It's obsolete as of WebSphere MQ v5.3 CSD8.

If you are using JMS, you do not need to know how to spell "MQRFH2". So forget everything you read about it.

All WebSphere MQ Pub/Sub brokers are fully compatible with JMS publications and subscriptions produced by the WebSphere MQ JMS Provider.

You are going to have some difficulty getting a WebSphere MQ Pub/Sub broker to process subscription messages from a WebLogic JMS provider or an Tibco JMS Provider.

Go back and re-read the "Using Pub/Sub" manual. And then re-read the JMS section of the "Using Java" manual.

Thanks jefflowrey, you said "All WebSphere MQ Pub/Sub brokers are fully compatible with JMS publications and subscriptions produced by the WebSphere MQ JMS Provider."
This good new. This means that we do not have to do any application change.
Just want to confirm "All WebSphere MQ Pub/Sub brokers" includes WMQI V21 broker right ? We will have a partner using WMQI V21 when we bring in MB V6.

The version of the RFH header will depend on the information supplied when creating your TopicConnectionFactory in JNDI.

Enjoy
