Hi all,

just to satisfy my curiosity: Does anybody know, when the command START LISTENER was added to runmqsc (MQ version on Windows and Unix)?

I did not find it with the search button .

AFAIK it's been around at least since 5.0. Can't remember using it before then but I always used to use inetd as the listener anyway.

One problem I found was that it was not possible to specify the port number - it always defaulted to 1414. It seems that restriction has been lifted.

Thanks a lot. I never used this command, so I was very surprise when I heard, that this command is not new to version 6!

My first MQ version was 2.2.1 and I am pretty sure, this command did not exist in this version.

Most set the listener(s) to start via an automated process at startup, so unless you are doing something manually (i.e., with runmqsc), you probably would not have had a need for it. But, if you need to bounce a listener, for some reason, this has always been one of the simplest ways.
