Hi, I am kinda new to WMB 6. I have a small question:
We are working on the migration project from WMQI 2.1 to WMB 6. Now we are planning to have both the broker v 2.1 and v 6 on the same AIX machine initially. But since in WMB 6, we have the option of having ConfigMgr in AIX, we are planning to have ConfigMgr on AIX. Now is it ok to manage broker 2.1 with config mgr 2.1 (windows) and new broker 6 with new configmgr(AIX) and the toolkit on our local machines?
One other thing I'm not clear is since we do not need the 2 databases (like in WMQI 2.1) in WMB 6, in which file system will this information be stored? Is it on the config mgr machine(AIX) or on our local machines where toolkit in installed(Windows)?

You can either use one configmgr or two.

In v6, the stuff that was checked-in and out is stored on your toolkit machines - the flows and the sets.

The stuff that was stored in the configmgr - the broker registrations and what was last deployed - is stored in the configmgr private repository which will be in the registry directory on the configmgr machine.

The broker still needs it's database, where the runtime configuration is kept.

So Jeff, is it recommended to have a dedicated machine with the toolkit installed on it or is it ok if we use our own local machines to do that? (just to make sure of our budget)
Coming to the broker database, we were using DB2 so far and are now planning to go for Oracle. Is it possible to migrate the DB2 broker tables to Oracle?

My recommendation is to have Toolkit on developer machines, talking to a version control/source control system.

Just another question on the migration.

I know from documentation that we can install WMB Broker software along with WMQI Broker. I am not clear if we can install WMB Toolkit/WMB Config Manager without uninstalling WMQI Config Manager and Conrtol Center.

Can we do that? Or Do I have to uninstall WMQI Config Manager and WMQI Control Center and THEN install WMB Toolkit and WMB TOolkit?

Thanks

you don't have to uninstall anything to install WMB6 toolkit or broker . it will be independent

Create the new broker on Oracle.

It would be ... complicated... to migrate the data to Oracle from DB2, I think.
