Folks,
Just started playing with the new API Exit capabilities of WSMQ 5.3. I am pretty pleased with the documentation and functions and so far little unexpected.
As a test, I wrote a MQPUT exit that changed the contents of the message to a fixed string ... this worked but resulted in a very confused system. When ANY puts were done, this exit was invoked.
This resulted in MQExplorer and other apps failing. My solution would be to determine which queue was being put to and modify my data only on that queue .... unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way to determine the name of the queue that the exit is being invoked for ... I am passed a couple of control structures and all the parameters for MQPUT ... but from an MQHOBJ handle, I can't get back to the queue name .... this will need some more thinking ... |

A comprehensive article on the API crossing exit by Mark Taylor of IBM Hursley can be found in the July 2002 issue of MQ Update. It includes sample code.
www.xephon.com/mq
It's not free - but you can buy a single issue or a subscription. |
