PM4Data is an MQ application and as such, I always think of the following, in terms of deciding what SW is installed where...
in general I use clients when the platform supports MQ clients, the amount of data to be transferred is relatively small, and the network reliability is relatively good.
When one of those requirements aren't met I use a PM4Data/MQ server.
In short you need a PM4Data/MQ footprint where-ever the files are being written/read from and you must have at least 1 PM4Data/MQ server which acts as the enterprise node - think of that as the traffic cop which co-ordinates transfers and stores audit info.

Actually putting MQ servers in a retail environment isn't that cost-prohibitive as IBM has a retail based 'bulk' pricing model under the SIF.

Yeah, we've looked at SIF for the future. I don't normally get involved with pricing but using MQ client at the time let us roll things out during chapter 11 when the court controls the money. Trust me, I would much rather have a real queue manager in each store. |

Hello,
We are running a large program/project and the current activities are technical proof of concepts to verify the integration platform.
The integration platform are built upon WMB and WMQ and other products such as IBM WBI Adapter for mySAP and JDBC.
Now we have a system A that will be integrated and it uses file import/export (XML) as the main interface. For that integration we have planned for using WMB with pub/sub, WMQ and IBM WBI adapter for JText receiving messages and spools them to file.
We have not really not done tests yet but then I heard about the PM4Data and wonder if this is a better option than JText.
The file adapter will be executed on the receiving system for accessing the local file system.
Would be very happy for some of your thoughts in this..

I would want to consider at least an additional possibility: IBM's message broker File Extender node...
It all comes down to level of complexity, cost, level of auditing ...
State your requirements, compare the 3 products and make your choice.
I suppose you can't change system A to use MQ instead of files?

I will take a look...
Using MQ would be the best and it's possible BUT that would require an unwanted component (SAP XI) and yes the system A is SAP MDM (master data management) BUT (nr2) is that XI in turns uses the file system as interface
