We are about to use MRM for the first time in applications (XML to Cobol copybook and back again). Currently we are on V2.0.2 having had no real need to upgrade. I am aware, without having yet researched the details, that there were a number of enhancements in the MRM 'space' in 2.1 and was therefore wondering if someone who uses MRM and has migrated from 2.0 to 2.1 could comment on the advisability of migrating before (or in conjunction with) our planned initial use of MRM. I anticipate our usage will not exploit the enhancements (we can satisfactorily do what we need with the 2.0.2 functionality) but do not want to find that we have to make changes to our flows and definitions when we finally move to 2.1 becasue of differences between the two versions. |

I've seen a number of people with issues because of slight behavioural differences between 2.0x and 2.1. Most of these have/are being treated as regressions.
In reality, anything which works on 2.02 *should* work on 2.1. I guess part of the question is:
a) How much does your 2.02 maint cost
b) How much would a 2.1 upgrade cost
Would you benefit from other 2.1 improvements such as many ESQL enhancements?
My choice would be to develop a new app. on 2.1 and go to production that way, rather than develop it on 2.02, go to production, and then be left in the position of later having to migrate/upgrade/retest the product and application when you go to 2.1.
If I was an executive manager faced with this question, I'd definitely go for 2.1 now, rather than later. |

Thankyou for your comments...that was my thinking also...subsequent research has thrown a further 'spaniard' in the works with the belated discovery of WMQI Broker for Multiplatforms!....since we don't and are unlikely to use NEON it seems that a move from 2.0.2 to this new version of WMQI mught kill several birds with one stone....depending upon how the licensing issues can be resolved. |

I observed major performance improvement in WMQI 2.1 CSD2 as compared to earlier versions of MQSI. _________________ Kiran
