Hi all, quick question I hope; we've been using WBIMB v5.0.5 for some time with PVCS as our change control repository. We are looking to migrate to v6, but we have been unsuccessful in getting the toolkit to recognize the PVCS plugin...Merant does not display on the toolbar, nor in the Tools...Preferences...Team options list.

Is anyone using v6 with PVCS? Thoughts...thank you

WMB v6 Tooling runs on Eclipse 3.0.x (3.0.2.2 on the current FP2).

You may need to upgrade your PVCS eclipse plugins to work.

Also, make sure you have applied at least FP1 and ifix04, if not FP2.

Also, specify -clean on the wmbt.exe command ONCE. Don't specify it all the time, or your startup times will take forever.

Thank you for the reply...

Is the FP2 you are referring to the latest one released for WMB v6 or for Eclipse? Or is that the same thing, i.e. if I install FP2 for WMBv6 is brings Eclipse up to FP2 level?

Also, if I try using the RPU it hangs on me; appears to be at level 6.0.1. I may have to download and install the FP manually. Is this a common occurance with others?

Yes, I meant the most recent FP2 of Broker Toolkit. The FP level of Broker and Toolkit were both released at the same time - so make sure you get the one you want (or get both, but don't get confused about which one you apply where...).

Where does RPU hang? At startup? While searching for updates? While installing updates?

I personally have never had big issues using RPU to update Broker toolkit/wid/modeller/etc. The only times I've had real issues was when the network was bad. In general, downloading the fixes and using a local repository can be quicker and can proceed with less problems.

The RPU hangs while searching for the updates. It appears the update of the RPU from 6.0.0.4 to 6.0.1 worked okay. It's when I then try to "Find Updates" after that it stops responding.

I'm in the process of downloading the 6.0.0.2 zip file now (the toolkit one; I noticed the two versions MB vs. toolkit, but thanks for the warning). It looks like I still have to use the updater, but with the local policy xml file so I am hopeful it works okay...

On a related note, I see that I also need to update the Agent Controller to 6.0.1 to stay in sync with the toolkit ~ would seem to ruin any v5 compatibility plans, no?

Again, thank you for your help. If this latest attempt at installing FP2 fails, I'll be contacting IBM support.

I think Agent Controller v6.0.1 is compatible with Broker v5.

If it hangs searching for updates - maybe it's a network proxy issue.

IBM Agent Controller V6.0.1 is only compatable with WMB V6.0.0.1 plus Ifix4 or WMB V6.0.0.2.

The format of the "messages" passed between WMB and the Agent Controller were changed for V6.0.1 of the Agent Controller.

This was described in the PMR back in March when the apar was issued to allow the use of AG 6.0.1 - to allow a firewall to sit between WMB and AG. There were multiple other small fixes to clean up some of the JNDI related errors.

I also see in the "Managing your Installation" manual that the agent controller v6.0.1 is NOT compatible with v5...
