Hi,

I have WMB V6.0.0.1 installed with j2re1.4.2_10 on Windows workstation. I have been trying to install Rational Agent Controller 6.0.0.1. On the "Java Runtime" wizard, where java.exe location needs to be specified, I tried entering C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_10\bin\java.exe as well as C:\Program Files\IBM\MQSI\6.0\jre\bin\java.exe (WMB install dir).

I keep getting an error "The specified path does not contain a valid Java executable" and not letting to go to next wizard.

Does anyone experience this problem? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Don't point at java.exe.

Point at, e.g., "C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_10\"

Thanks jefflowery.

java.exe is in c:\Program Files\java\j2re1.4.2_10\bin folder.

I tried c:\Program Files\java\j2re1.4.2_10 and as well as c:\Program Files\java\j2re1.4.2_10\bin with and without quotes.

Still I am getting the same "The specified path does not contain a valid Java executable" error.

Try short path: "c:\Progra~1\java\j2re1.4.2_10".

Tried short path and didn't work.

Do I need to check any windows environment variable or need to include any library in PATH and/or CLASSPATH for this to work?

You may check the PATH to see if the <JRE_HOME>/bin is included.

If you don't have it in your PATH then append it.

Else, if it still doesn't work : then can you inform if you have multiple versions Java JRE installs?

point to the required JRE, preferably latest version.
Ensure that this JRE version occurs prior to the other JRE versions in your PATH (eg: Assuming that JRE 1.4.2 is the latest install; your PATH should have this order of JRE entries : <JRE_1.4.2_HOME>;<JRE_1.4.0_HOME>;....<JRE_1.3.x_HOME>)

You might want to try pointing to other JRE installations (unless you have to use the specific version)

If this doesn't work then what i'd have done in this situation is: I'd have cleansed my JRE installations and would have done a clean re-install.

There may be better solutions to handle this issue, but they are unknown to me.
