Computer Scientist (Server Products Architect)
Position Summary:
The architect will drive the architecture of our enterprise server products that help users automate, accelerate, secure and manage enterprise processes using Intelligent Documents. This architect will be responsible for the server platform strategy and architectural aspects of future security initiatives paving the way to features that will improve the flow of business-critical information among employees, customers, suppliers and constituents in a secure manner.
This architect will work closely and cooperatively with engineering management and product management to define and communicate product vision. By working closely with enterprise customers, he or she will recommend solutions that integrate IT assets and infrastructures and Adobe products to solve customer problems. He will ensure the long-term implications of the product line vision are understood and that suitable engineering work is undertaken to enable support for the product’s future features. He will identify and evangelize the structuring principals on which the product architecture, design and infrastructure are based.
In order to do this properly he must understand the environment in which the product design resides and operates, for example: the J2EE application servers, the operating systems which the product runs, the hardware parameters and performance characteristics it requires and the business it serves. The architect will lead design revisions required by environmental changes and will work with engineers within his product area to ensure that suitable resources are applied to meet the needs stated above. He will provide mentoring and guidance on all aspects of architecture. The successful candidate will also work with peer architects in other groups as needed and appropriate to ensure component interoperability and code or component re-use.
Knowledge & Skills:
• 8 + years in-depth experience with very strong conceptual and hands-on architecture skills
• Must be a technical visionary
• Extensive experience architecting high-performance enterprise-level server software
• Must have proven leadership driving technical efforts across multiple teams and should be able to champion technical ideas and architectures.
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
• Proven ability for contributing to product vision and for setting technical strategic direction
• Must have demonstrated in-depth knowledge of programming using Java and should have strong understanding of Java platforms.
• Have demonstrated in-depth knowledge in Service Oriented Architectures
(SOA)
• Web Services standards like SOAP 1.1/1.2, XMLRPC, Orchestration (BPEL4WS), WSDL 1.0/2.0, Fast Infoset, Soap Messages with
Attachments, SOAP MTOM
• Web Services Java standards like JAXB, JAXP, JAXR, JAX-RPC and SAAJ.
• Web Services Security– WS-Security (including XML-Encryption and XML-Signature) and WS-Policy
• Experience with either Axis or JWSDP is required.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) architecture is preferred.
• Must have in-depth knowledge of at-least one of the popular Application Servers from BEA (WebLogic), IBM (WebSphere), Oracle or JBoss.
• Must have capability to architect highly available, scalable and reliable solutions. Knowledge of Application Server clustering, Database clustering technologies as well as java caching technologies is required. Knowledge of different java remoting technologies is preferred.
• Must have in-depth knowledge of Object Relational Persistence technologies and should have working knowledge at least one ORM product like Hibernate or based on EJB 3.0 or JDO implementation.
• Must have architectural understanding of J2EE and its various standards like EJB, JNDI, JTA, JMS, JMX, JAAS etc.
• Must have knowledge of Agile and Test driven development Models. Must have worked with JUnit and Ant.
