It is possible to configure WMQ that it automatically rollback a MQMessage to the rollback Queue Defined in Source Queue MQMD the MQMesage read from ?
If Yes How ?

  1. your environment needs to be WAS (MDB) or some similar IBM program that automatically takes the responsibility of implementing that behavior (WMB...). IBM clearly specifies that the stated behavior is responsibility of the application programmer....
  2. Set the backout threshold on the queue
  3. Set the backout queue on the queue
  4. Set the MDB retry to be > bothresh of the queue.

No, not exactly. Poison message handling in JMS and XMS is based on (a) the backoutRequeue properties of the queue, and (b) the dead-letter queue of the queue manager.

The description of poison message handling at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv6/v6r0/topic/com.ibm.mq.csqzaw.doc/jms77a4.htm (scroll down to "Handling poison messages") is relevant when running MQ JMS both within and outside an application server. XMS (always running outside an app server) should also follow the same rules.
